Workshop on Coding: ‘Lëtz Get More Girls in Digital’
On 25 June, Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology, the Commission Representation in Luxembourg and Workshop4Me will co-host a coding workshop ‘Lëtz Get More Girls in Digital’. The initiative will take place in the context of the Digital Decade Policy Programme 2030.
About the workshop
This practical example of promoting gender balance in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills and careers will allow girls – aged 8 to 14 years old – and their mothers to code live, with the help of the Luxembourg NGO Workshop4Me. Together they will create application filters and discover how facial recognition and Artificial Intelligence (AI) work. The activity will be in English and no previous experience of coding is needed.
In addition, the workshop will feature:
-
a high-level opening by Yuriko Backes, Luxembourg Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity, and by Elisabeth Margue, Luxembourg Minister of Justice, on the opportunities for girls in ICT in Luxembourg;
-
a brief talk by role models Diem Bui, Senior Solutions Engineer at LuxProvide, and by Marina Andrieu, Managing Director at WIDE (Women in Digital Empowerment), on their experience as senior women in ICT.
