Outside universities, there are more than 100 research institutions in the Land of Baden-Württemberg, including 12 research institutions from Max Planck, 15 Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, 13 contractual research institutions and two major research institutions Helmholtz. For a large number of these institutions, the Ministry of Science participates in institutional funding or through projects.
