A National Literacy Strategy for all in Malta and Gozo

A National Literacy Strategy for all in Malta and Gozo

Literacy is a human right, essential for survival and social change. Literacy is not simply learned in school through specific reading and writing instruction, but is first developed at home and in the communities when children acquire and develop language. To ensure that literacy becomes an integral feature in society, A National Literacy Strategy for All in Malta and Gozo (2021-2030) is built on the following 4 pillars: Literacy in the Community, Literacy in Education, Literacy Resources and Professional Development and Reserach. These four interdependent pillars provide the foundations for literacy provision for all in Malta and Gozo. The successful implementation of the National Literacy Strategy for All (2021–2030) relies heavily on the active engagement of everyone. All stakeholders are invited to engage in a constructive dialogue on the challenges and opportunities, and a plan of action to ensure that all children, youths and adults achieve their full potential in literacy.
