Strategy

Slovenia’s future depends to a large extent on how well our companies, employees, public administration and society will adapt to the demands of advanced digital technologies and their use in the economy and society.

A Strategy for the Digital Transformation of the Economy (hereinafter: strategy) we address the wider integration of advanced digital technologies in enterprises, the challenges of the dynamics of the uptake of advanced digital technologies, in particular in relation to the necessary skills and digital competences to implement these technologies as quickly as possible in business processes. Due to the need to introduce intensive changes in the economy, we use the term ‘transformation’ instead of ‘transformation’ here. It is also based on the ‘Europe’s Digital Decade’, which sets targets for 2030 in four areas, in relation to competences, accessibility of digital infrastructure, accessibility to digital public services and the comprehensive digital transformation of businesses directly linked to key areas of the digital transformation of the economy.

The strategy covers the period from 2021 to 2030. It was prepared in parallel with the processes of digitalisation, computerisation and the EU’s digital single market already initiated. The strategy highlights current advanced digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), big data processing technologies (big data), data chain technologies (BC), high performance computing (HPC), quantum computing and 5G technologies that will drive economic growth and competitiveness.

The digital transformation strategy of the economy sets out how Slovenia will ensure the transition to a modern digital economy in the next decade. It builds on existing digital technologies and initiatives, on the findings of the European Commission’s recommendations and on the indicators achieved in the field of digitalisation, accompanied by European and global (OECD) statistics.
