ICT Summer Traineeship Scheme 2024

The ICT Summer Traineeship Scheme is a mutually beneficial opportunity for students who are studying in the areas of ICT, and employers coming from the Public Administration as well as NGO’s.

This scheme is intended to assist students to obtain the 21st-century skills, focusing on the knowledge, skills and competencies required in the industry.

This summer placement will allow students to bridge the gap between theory and practice, giving students a head-start once they start their full-time employment.

Who can Apply?

Employers coming from the Public Sector/Service, State Funded Schools, and NGOs, who can offer a meaningful ICT work experience to students, whether operating in the ICT industry or any other industry which utilises technology.

Which students participate in the programme?

Students eligible to participate include all students studying ICT or related subjects. The minimum entry level is for students who are currently in their 1st year 6th Form as well as those students who are currently in their 1st year MQF Level 4 Diploma in ICT related course both from Public and Private Educational Institutions.

Why should my organisation participate?

Students bring fresh and innovative ideas into your organisation; they are very adaptable due to their current learning process and are used to overcome challenges regularly due to new assignments and exams. Hiring students increases productivity as current tasks can be assigned to them leaving your full-time employees able to focus on the more essential tasks.

What are the financial benefits?

MITA will reimburse 100% of the students’ basic salary to all employers after the students’ completion of the summer placement at the hourly rate established by the Students’ Maintenance Grants Board. Important to note that students are entitled to pro-rata vacation leave and sick leave. Government bonuses and NI are to be covered by the employer.
