Prevention in Cyber! is a joint project of the Ministry of the Interior and the Centre for Risk Virtual Communication Prevention of the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc. Four educational videospots were created as part of the joint project. These focus on cybercrime, its prevention, risky online gaming and digital wellbeing:
1) Cybercrime
The video focuses on cybercrime as a complex problem, describes the basic types of cybercrime, at the same time shows how cybercrime has evolved in recent years and how common crime has shifted to the online world. It should be noted here that official statistics only capture reported cases, but a large number of incidents are not reported and victims are afraid to confide in their problems to the Police of the Czech Republic.
2) Principles of effective prevention of cybercrime
The animation focuses on effective ways of preventing risky behaviour, points out that it is important that preventive activities are age-appropriate and continuous and long-term. It also draws attention to the importance of the interactivity of education, with the activity of the audience being the key. Important preventive principles include the orientation of preventive activities on knowledge, skills, but above all attitudes and behavioural changes. It is also crucial that prevention does not scare the target group!
3) Risks associated with online games
One of the most important preventive topics is the issue of risky behaviour in the online gaming environment. Online games have a lot of problems. In recent years, there has been a growing number of scams targeting online players, animations are also dealing with issues of netolism or physical problems related to online gaming. Increasingly, cases of theft of gaming accounts, theft of virtual objects or characters are also reported.
4) What is Digital Wellbeing?
What is Digital Wellbeing? We can imagine it as a balanced digital lifestyle and healthy digital habits. In today’s highly digitalised society, it is important to find a natural balance between active and meaningful use of modern technologies and other activities that are not directly linked to technology.
