Main content of the training:
The Information Security Master Programme at Luleå Technical University focuses on security in relation to organisational knowledge, design of secure information systems and secure continuity of ICT services. The programme emphasises an active knowledge search, problem-solving and critical analysis with a scientific approach. The working arrangements include individual studies, group work, seminars and lectures.

Course content:

  • Basic courses provide a socio-technical understanding of the field and its challenges.
  • Optional courses for specialisation in information security management and management or technological solutions;
  • Courses include information security, applied computer security, internet security, IT infrastructure security, critical infrastructure protection and information security management.
  • The first year ends with a project training course.
  • The second year focuses on cutting-edge research and trends in information security, with the possibility to choose courses targeting technical information security or information security management.
  • The programme ends with a degree work.

Form of study:
The training is offered both remotely and at campus in Skellefteå. For remote students, there are no mandatory hits on campus. Communication with teachers takes place via an online learning platform, email and video conference.

Career prospects:
The training provides a wide range of socio-technical skills in information security and expertise in the field of interest of the student. Possible areas of work include risk management and consultancy activities in the field of information security. After training, you can work as a security officer in private companies, banks or in municipal and state authorities.
