Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon, provides on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to various clients on a pay-as-you-go basis. Key services include networking, compute, storage, middleware, IoT, and software tools, all delivered via AWS server farms. This enables clients to avoid managing and scaling hardware and operating systems. A foundational service, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), offers virtual clusters of computers with high availability, accessible over the internet through REST APIs, a CLI, or the AWS console. AWS virtual computers emulate real computer attributes, including CPUs, GPUs, RAM, storage options, operating systems, networking, and pre-loaded software such as web servers and databases.
